Hannah Rebecca Mitchell Parrish

Hannah Mitchell Parrish died Monday, June 22 at Chester County Hospital in West Chester.  Hannah was born May 30, 1919 in Wilmington, the daughter of Henry Cloud and Lidie Webster Mitchell.

She was raised on Woodside Farm, Hockessin, and graduated high school from Sanford School (Sunny Hills). She is a graduate of Ambler School of Horticulture for Women and worked on a Pennsylvania farm before returning to farming at Woodside Farm with her father, brother, and uncles.  In 1950, she married Lawrence T. Parrish, Jr. and joined him in dairy farming in Kennett Square. In 1957, Parrish Brothers Mushrooms was instituted and the dairy later sold. Hannah was employed at Reeses Pharmacy in Kennett Square and The Holiday Inn Motel, Talleyville, Del.

She was a long-time member of New Garden Friends Meeting.  She was active in social groups including local Garden, Bridge, and Game Groups.  Hannah served many years as a local 4-H Club leader.

She is survived by her husband, Lawrence T. Parrish, Jr.; her brother, Joseph Mitchell and his wife Kathryne S. Mitchell, Hockessin; eight nieces and nephews and their families.  She was predeceased by her sister, Martha Mitchell Lomax, of Newark.

A Memorial Service will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday June 26 at New Garden Friends Meeting, at the Corner of Newark and New Garden Rd. Toughkenamon.  Interment will be held privately at the adjoining cemetery.  Contributions in her memory may be made to The Friends Home in Kennett, 147 West State St., Kennett Square, PA 19348.  Arrangements are being handled by the Kuzo & Grieco Funeral Home Inc.
