Flavian G. Basciani, 82, of Kennett Square, died peacefully on Monday, May 11 at the Christiana Hospital in Newark, Del. surrounded by his loving family.

He was a 1944 graduate of Kennett High School and a retired mushroom grower.  Flavian enjoyed boating and spending the winters in Miami Beach.

He is survived by:  his wife, Ann Basciani; his children, Steve Basciani, Kim Basciani and Jill Echevarria; brother, Mario Basciani; sister, Rose DeFabio; and his grandchildren, Jane and Suzanne Chalet, Bella and Mark Echevarria and Nina Tennent.

Other survivors include his wife’s children, Deborah Denlinger and Fred Young and grandchildren, Jenelle Young, Jeremiah, Jonalyn and Julie Denlinger, and one great grandchild, Isaac.

He was predeceased by his daughters, Kathleen Chalet and Cynthia Basciani; brother, Emidio Basciani, Jr.; and by a sister, Dora Basciani.

Family and friends may visit with the family on Sunday, May 17 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Kuzo & Grieco Funeral Home (610-444-4116), 250 W. State St., Kennett Square, and again on Monday, May 18 from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. Gabriel of the Sorrowful Mother Church, 8910 Gap Newport Pike, Avondale.  His funeral mass will follow at 11 a.m. at the Church..  Interment will be in St. Patrick Cemetery.
