Let’s grow together

Welcome to ChaddsFordLive.Com, the the online forum for the Brandywine Valley. ChaddsFordLive is the Phoenix rising from the ashes of the Chadds Ford Post and filling the void in news coverage that was left when the Post was closed. But unlike the the Post, ChaddsFordLive will be allowed to grow.

ChaddsFordLive will begin by first focusing on covering the news and events happening in Birmingham, Chadds Ford, Pennsbury and Pocopson townships. We will cover government and politics, business, human interest and schools.

There will be links to the various township governments, state and national elected representatives and political parties, the Unionville-Chadds Ford School District and we are including RSS feeds for national and international news, major sports coverage, even horoscopes and movie theater listings that people are accustomed to find in a print newspaper, and other pages for recipe sharing and any other fun information you'd like to share with the rest of the community.

It's an ambitious project that will mature at its own rate. Part of the maturation process includes growth into other townships and the addition of features that our subscribers want to see.

And subscribing will have its perks, such as the ability to post anonymous comments to stories or being able to post your own photos to the site for our Photos of the Week feature. Subscribers will also be able to get e-mail notices of breaking news and other content updates.

We can add whatever you'd like, within the realm of legality and taste, so give a call or drop a line. The newsroom phone number is 484-354-6853; e-mail is editor@chaddsfordlive.com.

In six weeks we will begin charging a subscription fee of $25 per year, but those who subscribe before then will get 15 months, not 12,  for their first subscription. As we add features and increase the value of this site, some of those features will be disabled for nonsubscribers. Until then, check out the site, help us give it a good shakedown run.

As newspapers across the country continue to close, even major city papers, the future of journalism will will continue to move from the printed page to the online medium. One of the sad factors in losing newspapers is that those papers often help create a sense of community, That sense can begin to evaporate without that common information source. Let's build that sense of community online. Let's grow together.
