"R" parking lot off South New Street

WCU celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Gordon Natural Area (GNA) with food, music, family activities, and more. Join one of 3 optional guided tours of the Gordon, a 126-acre preserved forest with native plants, stream and meadow habitat. Tours last approx. 45 minutes (appropriate footwear for walking through wet areas and on rough terrain with exposed roots and rocks is recommended).

  • 1:15 p.m. — Tree Identification Tour
  • 2:15 p.m. — Getting to Know the Gordon: History & Ecology with Dr. Jen Chandler, Department of Biology
  • 3:15 p.m. — The Eastern Meadow: Enhancing Habitat for the Monarch Butterfly with Dr. Nur Ritter, GNA Stewardship Manager
