Discover how looking at nature in your own backyard—or schoolyard—or even in a work of art can inspire rich learning opportunities across the curriculum. Jessica Allen will share creative yet simple ideas for nature study using “the vacant lot and the small backyard.” Observation-based art activities will be included. Jessica Allen has degrees in Communication & The Arts, Secondary English Education and a M.Ed. in Teaching & Curriculum. She has completed the Jane Goodall Institute Growing Compassionate Leaders course and is a certified Pennsylvania TreeVitalize Tree Tender. As a current home educator, Ms. Allen shares her love of nature study and child-led learning through nature clubs and workshops. Her own backyard now features a native plant wildlife habitat and pollinator garden
