Police Log Dec. 28: Hit and run, Christmas gifts stolen

• State police from the Media barracks said Jason Scott McCaskill, of Concord Township, was arrested for DUI after a traffic stop at Route 202 at Summit Street in Concord Township on Dec. 10.

PSP Logo 2• Sometime between 8 p.m. on Dec. 23 and 7 a.m. on Dec. 24, someone stole two Target gift cards and a bag of presents from a car parked in the lot of Painters Crossing Condominiums.

• Jaime Zavala-Nino, 31, of West Grove, was charged with receiving stolen property after he attempted returning stolen merchandise to the Mykonos Department Store in Glen Eagle Square on Dec. 23, state police said.

• A 24-year-old man from Garnet Valley was arrested for DUI following a traffic stop on Route 202 at Springwater Plaza on Dec. 10. Police said the driver, not named in the report, was observed driving through a DUI checkpoint. During the 1:51 a.m. stop, police determined he was driving under the influence.

• State police said Christopher Duffin, 22, of Chadds Ford, was cited for following too closely after a Dec. 16 accident on Naaman’s Creek Road near Pyle Road. A report said Duffin rear-ended another vehicle that had come to a stop at the red light at 2:57 p.m.

• No injuries were reported in a two-vehicle accident that, police said, was likely caused by debris in the road. Police said one vehicle was stopped at the traffic light at Routes 1 and 202 at 3:47 p.m. on Dec. 18, when a second car hit some debris in the road. The driver of the second car was unable to stop before hitting the first car. Neither driver was named in the report.

• State police reported a hit and run accident on Route 1 in Chadds Ford Township on Dec. 20. One driver was slowing down for a red light when the car was rear-ended. The driver of the second car fled the scene. The 16-year-old driver that was struck might have sustained an injury, but there was no transport, police said.

• A 38-year-old from Newark was injured in a two-car accident in Pennsbury Township on Dec. 20. Robert C. Schaener, was also cited for DUI, according to a police report. State police from the Avondale barracks said Schaener was driving north on Route 52, approaching Chaddbury Lane, failed to stay in the proper lane and struck another vehicle that was stopped at the intersection.

• An unknown driver fled the scene of a two-vehicle accident in Pocopson Township on Dec. 16. Police said the driver fled the scene after crossing the middle line and sideswiping a vehicle that was heading south on Red Lion Road. No injuries were reported.

• An unknown suspect entered an unlocked garage in East Marlborough Township and stole lawn care equipment, including an Echo weedwacker, edger, chainsaw and leaf blower. Also taken was a Black & Decker hedge trimmer. The theft happened sometime between 1 p.m. on Nov. 25 and 1 p.m. on Nov. 27.

• State police from the Avondale barracks said Basil Tariq Beyah-Patterson, 31, from Elkins Park, was arrested for DUI and possession with intent following a traffic stop on Routes 1 and 52. A search reveled “a large amount of Marijuana,” according to the report, as well as more than $3,000 in U.S. currency and drug paraphernalia.
