Police: Tips help put coffee thefts in the bag

Detectives bagged an accused coffee thief on Friday, July 22, according to a press release from the West Goshen Township Police Department,

Police believe the woman shown in these Wawa surveillance photos is responsible for a series of multi-state coffee thefts.
The release of surveillance photos leads police to a Wilmington woman, accused of stealing bagged coffee from Wawa stores.

The department’s investigation picked up steam after the release of multiple surveillance photos on Wednesday, July 20. The response from the public led investigators to Rebecca L. Julian, 48, of Wilmington, the release said.

Police said they interviewed Julian, who admitted to the crimes. She was released pending charges, the release said.

Julian’s alleged crime spree involved an estimated 40 to 50 thefts of multiple bags of coffee from Wawa convenience stores, police said. Wawa estimated a loss of more than $3,000, police said.

The thefts, believed to have started in early 2016, occurred all over southeastern Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, and Maryland, the release said. Police said Julian would walk into one store and steal numerous bags of coffee from the coffee island. She would then drive a short distance and return them to another store for cash, the release said.
