IRS scam alert

The Pennsylvania State Police has received numerous complaints from victims who have been contacted via the telephone and instructed to pay money to individuals claiming to be from the Internal Revenue Service. The callers give the victims instructions to send funds via MoneyGram, Western Union, and via cash deposits at banks. The suspects then transfer the funds outside of the United States. Suspects are known to target elderly people. They claim they are from the IRS and threaten arrests, prosecution and seizure of assets if the money is not paid.

If you receive a call from someone claiming to be from the IRS., don’t send them any money. Contact your local police department.
