Police Log Aug. 27: Indecent exposure; stolen car recovered; martial arts theft

11205124_10153279720643627_7567418857375995848_n• Indecent exposure charges are pending against a 26-year-old West Grove man. Police said the suspect — whom they did not identify — exposed himself to a 33-year-old woman from Media in the Brinton Lake shopping center on Aug. 21, at 5:14 p.m.

• Matthew D. Nolt, 21, of Lebanon, Pa., and Danijela S. Podgorski, 28, of Downingtown, were both charged with following too closely for their involvement in a three-car rear-ender accident on Aug. 20, police said. The accident happened on Route 202 at Hillman Drive in Chadds Ford Township at 7:33 a.m. No injuries were reported.

• No injuries were reported following an Aug. 19, two-vehicle accident on Route 202 at Oakland Road. A police report said Christina R. Witterholt, 18, of West Chester, was cited. According to police, Witterholt attempted to make a left-hand turn onto Oakland, but failed to yield the right-of-way to oncoming traffic.

• A 17-year-old male from Downingtown was cited for following too closely in connection with an accident on Route 202 at Oakland Road on July 22 at 9:05 a.m., a police report said.

• Police are investigating a series of thefts from a martial arts studio in Chadds Ford Township. A report said an unknown suspect stole cash payments from clients without writing receipts. A total of $1,110 was stolen, according to police.

• State police from Troop K, Media barracks, reported recovering a stolen vehicle on Route 202 at State Farm Drive on July 29. The report said the vehicle was entered as stolen by Delaware Sate Police.

• Joseph W. Smith, 36, of Boothwyn, was determined to be DUI following an accident on Route 322 and Merion Drive in Concord Township, according to state police. The accident happened at 1:24 a.m. on July 28.

• Police reported that Andrea Leathern, 44, of West Grove, was charged with DUI following a traffic stop at Route 1 and Heyburn Road at 2:11 a.m. on Aug. 8.

• A 27-year-old man from Wilmington was charged with drug violations in Chadds Ford Township. Police said Steven Daniel Lambert, a passenger in a car, was found with a small amount of narcotics and paraphernalia at 12:34 a.m. on Aug. 14 in the parking lot of David Dodge.

• Kennett Square Police are investigating the theft of a silver mountain bike valued at $50 that was stolen from the porch of a residence in the 300 block of East State Street. Police said the theft occurred sometime between 2 and 5:15 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 2.

• A Kennett Square resident told police that on Sunday, Aug. 2, they wired $500 after receiving a phone call indicating that a relative needed the money after having been in an accident. The resident then had second thoughts, but it was too late: The money had already been picked up. Police said that this is a prevalent scam and advised other residents to be wary of such schemes.

• On Monday, Aug. 17, a borough resident reported to Kennett Square Police that they received a similar phone call stating a relative had been hurt in an accident.  The resident had another family member call the relative, who was fine. The caller then stated that this relative was being held hostage for ransom.  The resident hung up and declined to answer when the caller repeatedly telephoned, police said.

• Cristian Padilla, 21, of Kennett Square, was arrested for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop in the 700 block of West State Street on Thursday, Aug. 13, at 2:05 a.m., said Kennett Square Police.

• Kennett Square Police said they arrested Fernando Esparza-Aguayo, 41, of Kennett Square, for DUI following a traffic stop on Thursday, Aug. 13 at 10:14 p.m. in the 100 block of Race Street after receiving the report of an erratic driver.

• Kennett Square Police cited a 15-year-old male from Bear, Del., and Justin Plyer, 20, of Kennett Square, for underage drinking on Friday, July 31, at 11 p.m. in the 500 block of South Union Street. Jose Gutierrez-Quintino, 21, of Kennett Square, was cited for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and public drunkenness, police said.
