After advancing from the semi-finals, two teams from the Unionville-Chadds Ford School District will face off against other schools during the Chester County Academic Competition championship, on Tuesday, March 17.

Starting at 7 p.m., three junior-varsity and then three varsity academic teams will compete during the contest, which will take place at the Technical College High School (TCHS) Brandywine Campus. The winning varsity team will represent Chester County at the state competition.
The reigning state champion, Downingtown East High School, will match wits with Unionville High School and West Chester East High School. Teams from Unionville, Conestoga, and Downingtown East will seek top honors at the junior-varsity level.
Twenty-four teams began competing against each other in October, using a "college-bowl" format, where students answered a wide variety of challenging questions. The subject areas include literature, math, science, American and world history, geography and contemporary events. All 24 teams competed in the semifinals, seeded according to their performance throughout the regular season.
The varsity team with the highest score on March 17 will represent Chester County at the state competition. The Pennsylvania Academic Competition will take place on the floors of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives and the Senate in Harrisburg on May 1. Downingtown East will also compete as the state’s reigning champion.
The championship matches can be seen live on CCIU’s Internet television network on March 17 beginning at 7 p.m. by visiting http://ccitv.cciu.org. Now in its 31st year, the Chester County Academic competition is coordinated by CCIU and sponsored by Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union.
