The Longwood Fire Company has appointed Dave Thomson as chief engineer of the company, a press release said.

“Dave has an important position at Longwood. He is in charge of keeping all of the trucks running,” said Chief A. J. McCarthy. “He did an excellent job previously as assistant chief engineer.”
Thomson’s duties also include keeping maintenance records, scheduling tests, training new drivers and making sure everyone is kept up-to-date on regulations. Thomson, who works at Longwood Gardens and lives in Penn Township, believes he spends 20 to 30 hours a week at Longwood.
A co-worker at Longwood Gardens told him about Longwood Fire Company. “I had previous experience with another fire company,” Thomson said. “My co-worker got me in the front door. You can’t ask for a better group of guys to fight fires and hang out with.”
Longwood Fire Company has served the communities of Kennett, East Marlborough, Pennsbury and Pocopson townships since 1921. Longwood Fire Company provides fire and rescue and emergency medical services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. For more information, visit www.longwoodfireco.com.
