Stretch of stormy weather predicted

Updated at 6 p.m. Sunday with increase in predicted accumulation

Enjoy the sunshine: It won't last long, according to the National Weather Service, which is predicting a one-two punch from storm systems expected to hit the region, starting late on Sunday, Jan. 25.

Overnight snow could slow the Monday morning commute. Temperatures may be warm enough Monday afternoon to permit melting of some snow on pavement; however, the more significant portion of this storm is expected to begin sometime later Monday afternoon or evening, with blowing and drifting likely.

Eastern Chester County is predicted to receive two to four inches Sunday night with another 10 to 14 inches or more possible Monday night into Tuesday. In the wake of these storm systems, much colder air is forecast to pour into the region. Low temperatures both Tuesday morning and Wednesday morning will be in the single digits and teens.

Wind chills, fueled by northerly gusts up to 35 mph, will make temperatures on Tuesday feel below zero. Wind gusts up to 50 mph are expected along the coast.
