Dancing might not be the end-all-be-all for four sisters in Chadds Ford Township, but they’re apparently good at it. Sisters Anastasia, Azelie, and Catherine Faia took a variety of top 10 finishes in the World Ballet Art Competition last month.

Philomena Faia, 19, also won a traineeship with the Colorado Ballet in an American Ballet competition two years ago, but turned that down to major in accounting at St. Joseph’s University.

Catherine, 11, took first place for classical and contemporary ballet in her age group, while Anastasia, 16, was top 10 in classical and first in contemporary for her group and Azelie, 13, scored in the top 10 in contemporary dance.

The girls were also selected to train with the Bolshoi Ballet at the Julliard School and will take part in the WBAC finals in Canada soon.

And while they have the skill, only Anastasia has any desire at this time to dance professionally.

“It’s fun and I like it,” she said.

The four sisters — four of Sal and Margaret Faia’s 14 children — have been dancing since they were very young, taking classes for eight to 16 years. Margaret Faia has home-schooled her children, but the girls have been studying dance in Media.
