Road report for the week of Aug. 18

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has announced the following road projects, which are weather-dependent and could affect residents in the greater Chadds Ford area during the week of Aug. 18 through Aug. 25. PennDOT recommends that motorists allow extra time if they are traveling through one of the construction zones.

Rumble strip installations will occur on Route 52 in Kennett Township and West Chester Borough and Newark Road in New Garden Township on Monday, Aug. 18 until Friday, Aug. 22, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Lane restrictions will be required between Unionville and Creek Roads in West Chester, between Burnt Mill and Hillendale Roads in Kennett Township and between Church Road and Route 842 in New Garden Township.

Rumble strips will also be installed on Duttons Mill Road between Route 352 and Mercer Place in Aston Township. The work will be done from Monday, Aug. 18, through Friday, Aug. 22, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Water main installation will continue to generate lane restrictions on North New Street between Hannum Avenue and Market Street in West Chester. The work will be done from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Friday, Aug. 22.

Gas main installation is scheduled for Tanguy Road in Thornbury Township on Tuesday, Aug. 19, through Friday, Aug. 29. Tanguy will be closed with a posted detour between Westtown Road and Route 926 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The roundabout project continues on Wawaset Road in Pocopson Township, which will be closed until Sept. 26 between Lenape-Unionville and Corinne Roads; detours are posted. Lenape-Unionville Road, which will be closed through Sept. 29 between Route 52 and Locust Grove Road and between Pocopson and Locust Grove Roads for roundabout reconstruction, also has detours posted.

Burnt Mill Road in Kennett Township is closed and detoured between Norway and Spring Mill Roads indefinitely while crews work to repair damage to a bridge that collapsed on April 24.

Route 202 in both directions will continue to require a traffic pattern shift between the Route 401 and Rt. 30 interchanges through May 2016 during the ongoing road reconstruction and widening.

Work is continuing to repair overhead bridge damage on northbound U.S. 202 in West Goshen Township. The right lane will be closed at all times between the Paoli Pike and U.S. 322 interchanges. A completion date has not been announced.

One lane will remain closed on I-95 North at the Commodore Barry Bridge for construction through July 14, 2015.
